Dianna Russini’s kids and family are suddenly everyone’s top search. Here’s what to know about the NFL reporter’s husband, two sons, and the Vrabel photo controversy taking over the internet.

Dianna Russini has spent years being the one asking the hard questions. As one of the most well-sourced NFL insiders in the business, the 43-year-old senior reporter for The Athletic has built a career on breaking trades, exposing coaching moves, and never missing a story.

But this week she finds herself on the other side of the spotlight, and the questions being asked are not about football at all.

After Page Six published exclusive photos of Russini alongside New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel at an Arizona resort on April 7, 2026, fans across the country rushed to learn more about the journalist making headlines.

Chief among their questions: who is Dianna Russini, who is she married to, and how many kids does she have? Here is everything you need to know.

Dianna Russini’s Husband and Children: A Look at Her Family Life

Away from the sidelines and the sound of breaking news alerts, Russini is, above everything else, a wife and a mom.

Russini is married to Kevin Goldschmidt, a corporate executive based in New York. The two first crossed paths in 2015 and quietly dated for five years, carefully keeping their relationship out of the public eye, no small feat given Russini’s profile as a prominent ESPN face at the time.

It was not until July 2020 that she announced their engagement on social media, catching many fans by surprise.

Just months later, on September 26, 2020, the couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With only close family present in person, they live-streamed the wedding over Zoom so the people they loved most could still be there, at least on screen. Russini later called it the best day of her life.

Goldschmidt, now 40, is a Penn State finance graduate who has built a respected career entirely on his own terms.

He currently serves as Vice President of Total Rewards and HR Technology at Shake Shack, a role he grew into over nearly seven years with the company, earning promotions from Senior Manager to Director before stepping into the VP position in February 2025.

Despite being married to one of sports media’s most recognizable faces, he has always chosen to stay out of the spotlight, though Russini has made clear, time and again, just how much his steady presence makes her demanding career possible.

The couple has two sons together.

Their first, Michael Andrew, was born on August 8, 2021, a date that carried extra magic, as it also happened to be Russini’s father’s birthday.

She announced the arrival on Instagram with the kind of raw honesty her audience loves, writing that in a world full of overrated experiences, this one genuinely lived up to everything and more. Michael is now four years old.

Their second son, Joseph “Joey” Kevin, arrived on October 11, 2023, weighing 8 pounds and 2 ounces.

Russini named him partly in honor of her late grandfather Joe, a man whose unwavering belief in her had shaped the journalist she became.

She broke the news on Instagram with her signature humor: “We had a baby… again!” Joey just turned two.

In one particularly charming anecdote, Russini has shared publicly, her then-toddler Michael once managed to send a $50 Apple Pay request to an NFL general manager she had been texting, prompting the concerned executive to check if she was okay.

That story, perhaps more than anything, captures the beautiful, chaotic collision of her two worlds.

Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel: What the Sedona Photos Actually Show

The controversy began on April 7, 2026, when Page Six published photos taken on March 28 at the upscale Ambiente resort in Sedona, Arizona.

The images showed Russini and Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel hugging, holding hands on a rooftop, and sitting together in a hot tub.

#Patriots HC Mike Vrabel and Athletic reporter Dianna Russini were seen holding hands and hugging while at a luxury hotel pool in pictures obtained by the New York Post. Vrabel and Russini and both married.

Within hours, the photos had spread across social media and generated millions of reactions, partly because both are married, and partly because the resort itself is widely associated with romantic getaways.

Both moved quickly to shut down the speculation. Vrabel, who celebrated his 26th wedding anniversary with wife Jen last year, released a direct statement:

“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response.”

Russini pushed back just as firmly, stressing that the photos failed to show the larger group of six people who had been spending the day together at the resort.

The Athletic‘s executive editor, Steven Ginsberg, also stepped in, calling the images “misleading” and noting they lacked essential context. The interactions, he emphasized, were entirely public and took place around many people.

Some hotel guests told Page Six they had not seen others with the pair during the day, adding fuel to the debate.

Nevertheless, both parties have maintained their account firmly, and no evidence of anything beyond a professional friendship has emerged. Russini has covered Vrabel going back to his tenure with the Tennessee Titans, and their professional history is long and well-documented.

As of now, both remain in their respective roles, and the story appears to be cooling as quickly as it ignited.
